Stranger Things Season 5 will be the series’ final season, but the series still has a lot of mysteries that need to solve, especially the Upside Down.

From whom created this parallel world to what’s Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) connection to it, these questions need some answers.

The Netflix show is now preparing for its fifth and final season. As the series has become a global phenomenon, many are now waiting for the stories Stranger Things Season 5 is about to tell.

Who’s Behind the Upside Down?

On a list made by Screen Rant, it noted that there had been questions about who’s behind the Upside Down since it was introduced in the first season in 2016.

There are theories that Will (Noah Schnapp) or Eleven has created this alternate universe, but Season 4 proved it had already existed long before the series’ events.

Henry Creel described it as a “realm unspoiled by mankind” with living organisms. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) believed it had already existed for thousands if not millions of years.

But it remains unknown who’s behind its creation.

Why is the Upside Down Stuck in 1983 Hawkins?

The previous season revealed that the Upside Down is stuck in 1983 Hawkins.

When Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Robin (Maya Hawke), and Eddie (Joseph Quinn) entered the Upside Down, they went to Nancy’s house to find and stock up on weapons.

However, Nancy couldn’t find anything and instead saw her diary, making her realize that the Upside Down was stuck on November 6, 1983.

It was the same day that Will disappeared in Season 1.

There are theories that it was also the same day Eleven opened the gate in the premiere season when she banished Henry and ended up opening more gates, making it a copy of 1983 Hawkins.

What’s Beyond Hawkins in the Upside Down?

The Upside Down has only shown the dark side of Hawkins and nothing beyond that.

That said, is there anything beyond it, like a world of its own or another city that is connected to the human world?

Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to show this side of the story.

Does Eleven Have a Connection to the Upside Down?

Eleven didn’t know another dimension existed until she overpowered Henry Creel at Hawkins and unknowingly sent him to the Upside Down, a surprising result of her incredible power.

Before Season 4 began, Eleven was the only one who could open the gates to the Upside Down.

Later, Vecna managed to do so after killing teenagers across Hawkins.

By the looks, there’s a connection between Eleven and the Upside Down that needs to be explored in Stranger Things Season 5.
