Peacock has collaborated with legendary horror filmmaker James Wan on a new horror thriller series. Yellowstone writer Ian McCulloch will pen the yet untitled series, which will be based on Robert McCammon's best-selling novel Stinger.
Stinger TV Series Overview
The official logline for the series itself explains that it "follows a disparate group of people on a ranch who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat."
Stinger takes place in Inferno, Texas, over the course of a single 24-hour period. Inferno is a troubled town brought to its knees by racial strife, gang violence, and a falling economy. But things may always become worse, and they can get worse quickly.
While the town is on the verge of imploding, an even larger problem is looming. A spacecraft landed just outside of town, bringing something dangerous, and it is up to citizens to come together to stop it.
The Geniuses Behind Stinger TV Series
McCulloch will pen the entire series. His previous writing credentials include episodes of popular shows such as Yellowstone, Deputy, and Chicago Fire. It has also been confirmed that E.L. Katz would direct the first episode of the series. Katz has directed episodes of horror shows such as The Haunting of Bly Manor, Channel Zero, Swamp Thing, and Scream: The TV Series in the past.
Wan's Atomic Monster production company and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, are collaborating on the new series. Peacock has already given it a straight-to-series order.
The series will be executive-produced by Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Katz, McCulloch, and McCammon. Atomic Monster's Danielle Bozzone will be in charge of the series.
