Star Wars: The Acolyte Actor Amandla Stenberg Admits Being 'Lucky' to Join the Project

Star Wars: The Acolyte has found its lead star in Amandla Stenberg but it looks like the franchise was determined to sign the former Hunger Games actor for the project. Stenberg has just spoken up about being cast in the Disney+ series, admitting that she considers herself "lucky" for being chosen for the role right from the start!

In late July, it was announced that Amandla Stenberg will be taking on the lead role in Star Wars: The Acolyte. This wasn't a huge surprise considering that there were speculations that the Everything, Everything star was being considered for the part. However, it looks like Stenberg had been the first choice all along.

Stenberg recently spoke to The Face where she revealed that Lucasfilm gave her an awesome pitch for The Acolyte.

"The Lucasfilm team came to me with this project which was fully conceptualised with me in mind, and I was astounded," Stenberg said. "I get to read, watch and breathe Star Wars. It's my job to get lost in it, I'm so lucky."

She continued, "My plans were interrupted by a very different life path, but one that I think is going to be a huge blessing."

The Acolyte was officially unveiled during Disney Investor Day back in 2020 but there haven't been a lot of updates on the project. We only know that Russian Doll's Leslye Headland will serve as writer and showrunner of the project which is part of Star Wars' The High Republic multimedia franchise.

For now, we don't have a lot of details about The Acolyte. However, the series is expected to begin production soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
