There is little doubt that people got emotional while watching Obi-Wan Kenobi, especially when Ben finally got to speak with Qui-Gon Jinn's Force ghost. So it's no surprise that even the actors who appeared in the scene felt the same way. Liam Neeson has just admitted that he and Ewan McGregor cried while filming the scene for the Star Wars series.
Liam Neeson reprised his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale, appearing as a Force ghost and reconnecting with Ben who had finally found inner peace. It was a beautiful moment that served as the perfect conclusion for the mini-series and filming the scene was emotional for Neeson and Ewan McGregor.
In a press conference for his new film Marlowe during the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival, Liam Neeson also spoke about his recent return as Qui-Gon Jinn (via Twitter). During the press conference, Neeson shared what it was like to film his scene in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
"It was Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan on a camel, a real camel, and me," Neeson said. He then revealed that there was a rehearsal before they started filming and that's when things got emotional.
"We rehearsed it before we shot it, and we just started crying, and it was lovely," Neeson said.
"That Star Wars that we did, Phantom Menace, we shot it over 25 years ago. It came out in 1999," he added.
We're not surprised that Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor teared up while working together. After all, it was an awesome reunion for their characters and viewers also wept after watching the scene. Needless to say, all the tears were worth it and it was a wonderful experience for all of us.
