Gamers are understandably excited about the recent reports of a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game being in development. But has the new title actually been in the works for a while now? A new leak suggests that the KOTOR remake had started development back in 2019.

It was previously reported that Aspyr Media is working on a major project that would be "a $70 million title." Interestingly, it was confirmed by industry insider Jason Scheirer that the new title is actually the highly anticipated Knights of the Old Republic remake.

But is it possible that this isn't a new thing at all? A Reddit user has shared that a quick look into Linkedin has confirmed that Aspyr Media currently has "over 20 former BioWare employees." In addition to that, these employees reportedly left BioWare back in 2019.

"Aspyr is a studio that ports games, and we know they are developing a AAA rpg because of current LinkedIn postings that are no longer up. We can assume that production or pre production on a KOTOR game began in 2019 when people with RPG backgrounds started joining," the user wrote.

This is truly exciting news considering that fans have been waiting for a new Knights of the Old Republic title for several years. If the game had started development back in 2019, it would mean that production will be much faster and the title could be made available sooner.

We're thrilled with the idea of a Knights of the Old Republic remake. However, it is important to point out that Aspyr Media and LucasArts have not made an official announcement about the new title just yet. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
