Star Wars Gives Tarkin An Origin Almost As Badass As Vader's

Grand Moff Tarkin may not have had a connection to the Force the same way Darth Vader did, however, the Empire's very first Grand Moff can be just about as vicious and brutal as everyone's favorite Sith Lord.

Marvel has just recently released an origin comic book for Wilhuff Tarkin, and in the pages of Star Wars: Age of Rebellion – Grand Moff Tarkin#1, fans get to see just how ruthless the Grand Moff can be. In the comic, we get to read about Tarkin's transition into manhood where Wilhuff is attacked by two tiger-like alien monsters. The creatures tore at Tarkin's chest while his relatives looked on – it's a miracle that he survived.

The comic then proceeds to an unexpected moment showing Tarkin strip after being challenged by Endo Frant to a knife fight, showing the scars that helped turn the Grand Moff into an ice-cold character.

Tarkin has been a fan-favorite character to many. Though casual fans might not really recognize the Grand Moff, Tarkin has been a villain that many enjoyed seeing in the original Star Wars trilogy. Unlike Vader, Tarkin was a cold and calculated character who brought chills to everyone's spines with his commands for the Empire.

The Grand Moff may not have been around in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, however, Tarkin was very much present in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the franchise's very first spinoff movie. Even in Rogue One, we get to see how ruthless and cruel Tarkin can be, undermining Director Krennic so he can take over the Death Star.
