Star Wars Cult Classic Podracing Game Gets Impressive Remake In Unreal Engine 4

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace may not be the best Star Wars film but fans did kind of enjoy the podracing bit in the film. Now, thanks to the work of Star Wars modder Rob Jin, cult classic Star Wars game Episode I: Racer has just gotten a fresh new coat of paint in Unreal Engine 4.

Taking to YouTube to announce the release of his new mod for Star Wars Episode I: Racer, Rob Jin unveils Star Wars Racer, an impressive remake of the original game that wows viewers with its impressive details. Though the video for the demo that Rob Jin posted isn't all that long, it does give fans a taste of all the nostalgia and all the serious fun they're going to get with the mod.

Sure, Star Wars Episode I: Racer might not be all that fancy-pants, but thanks to Jin's mod, it certainly looks like a game that both old and new fans can enjoy.

Surprisingly, Star Wars Racer wasn't a serious project for Rob Jin. The modder began taking up the mod just so that he could get a hang of using Unreal Engine 4 last year. Ten months later, and Rob Jin comes up with something like this.

It's a gorgeous mod, however, Star Wars Racer might not have that much time online considering how overprotective Disney is when it comes to properties like Star Wars. The mod is clearly a remake of Episode I: Racer, and we're not quite sure whether Disney would let that fly. Gamers better check the game out while they still can.
