Star Wars: Ahsoka Series Finally Begins Filming

It was during the Disney Investors Day back in December 2020 when Lucasfilm announced that they are working on an Ahsoka live-action series with Rosario Dawson reprising the role. We've been hearing some updates about the project for months, but now it looks like they are officially moving forward to the next stage.

The official Star Wars social media account has announced that filming for Ahsoka begins today. They posted a set photo that has a director's chair with the show's logo on the back along with a cowboy hat that is seemingly owned by Dave Filoni, who is known for wearing such headgear. The exact plot details of the series are still under wraps, but it is believed to follow the events that were set up for the titular character during the second season of The Mandalorian and her brief appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. It is also believed to be part of a potential crossover event in The Mandalorian universe.

Dawson, Hayden Christensen (reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker), Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (playing the role of Sabine Wren in live-action), and Ivanna Sakhno are starring in the series. Filoni and Jon Favreau are serving as executive producers just like in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsey is expected to helm an episode.

It is exciting to hear that production for Ahsoka has started as it is an indication that the series is officially moving forward and they are now rolling the cameras which should last for several months. While they didn't provide any more information, at least we got a confirmation from Lucasfilm themselves that they have started filming the series. We could hear more updates about the series soon.
