Star Trek: Lower Decks has expanded the Star Trek universe beyond the lives of the people who make the important decisions on the ship. The first season of Star Trek: Lower Deck debuted in August 2020, while the second season came out on August 2021. The third season premiered on August 2022, so we can expect the fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks to be released sometime in August 2023 if it follows the same trend as the earlier seasons.

Star Trek: Lower Decks was created by Mike McMahan based on the original series by Gene Roddenberry. McMahan may be returning to write for season 4, working alongside more writers like Garrick Bernard and Ben Rodgers.
Barry J. Kelly will be the supervising director for the season, while Titmouse, an independent animation studio, will be animating Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4.

Star Trek: Lower Decks season 3 is still ongoing, so we still do not know what season 4’s plot will be.
The animated show is set in the 24th century in the Star Trek universe, where species from all over the galaxy work together in harmony. Cooperating species formed the United Federation of Planets, which includes a military and exploration division called Starfleet. Star Trek: Lower Decks focuses on one of the less talked about ships, the USS Cerritos.
What we can expect, though, is more of its signature humor.
Cross Over with Strange New Worlds
During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, the members of the Star Trek panel revealed that the second season of another Star Trek franchise, Strange New Worlds, will feature a cross-over with Lower Decks. How this will be achieved still remains to be seen - we may Strange New Worlds will be animated or we get to see live-action counterparts of Lower Deck characters. We may even see both. We can't wait to see how the producers of the show will surprise us.
