Star Trek: Kate Mulgrew Addresses Possible Live-Action Janeway Return

There are a lot of reasons why Trekkies have been loving Star Trek Prodigy. In addition to introducing awesome new characters, the animated series has also brought back Kathryn Janeway, or at least a hologram version of the USS Voyager captain. But is there a chance we'll get to see Janeway return for a live-action project? Kate Mulgrew has addressed the possibility of reprising her role and it sounds like she's open to the idea!

Kate Mulgrew recently spoke to Comicbook.com while promoting her new project The Man Who Fell to Earth. Not surprisingly, Mulgrew was asked if there is any chance she will show up in the final season of Star Trek: Picard.

"Well, I think Picard is done, unless I'm quite mistaken," Mulgrew said before adding, "I think they've finished, but it's not likely that Janeway will show up on Picard. But who knows what will happen to her in the future?"

She then pointed out that Star Trek is going through a revival and anything is possible.

"There seems to be, as I said to you earlier, a tremendous resurgence here, a rather vital one. So for the first time, I'm actually looking at it with new eyes. I wonder what would happen if Janeway were to come back to live-action," Mulgrew said.

It's a hopeful response and a welcome one for fans who have always admired the character. For now, it is unclear whether Janeway is actually showing up in the final season of Star Trek: Picard but Trekkies are keeping their fingers crossed. Additionally, there are other shows where the character could return in in the future.

Kate Mulgrew appears in The Man Who Fell to Earth, which airs on Showtime every Sunday. The eighth episode will premiere on June 19, 2022.
