I think we can all agree that Marvel Studios made the right call by casting Chris Evans to play Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the actor's initial hesitance to audition for the part due to him playing Human Torch in Fox's Fantastic Four franchise, Evans went on to star in multiple blockbusters and pretty much defined the character.

Longtime followers of the MCU are well aware that Chris wasn't the only actor vying for the role. Interestingly, a Star Trek actor was apparently among the actors who auditioned to become Steve Rogers in the billion-dollar franchise.

Appearing at Atlanta's 2022 DragonCon over the weekend (via The Direct), Ethan Peck who plays Spock in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds revealed that he was once in contention to play the Star-Spangled Man with a Plan in the MCU.

Discussing some of his memorable auditions, Peck recalled how he was part of "a smaller few" who were considered for the role which Evans ultimately took on. The 36-year-old actor also revealed that he nearly played The Depp in Amazon Prime's The Boys.

He said: "I've had a lot of bad ones and some good ones, I guess. But some memorable ones, I was of a smaller few [group of actors] to be considered for Captain America many years ago, which stands out. And also, I came pretty close to the role of The Deep in The Boys."

Given how Peck was apparently part of Marvel Studios' shortlist, I find it quite baffling that Kevin Feige and company have yet to reach out to him for a potential project, especially considering other Captain America hopefuls like John Krasinski and Wyatt Russell were given roles in the MCU. But hey, it's not too late.

Speaking of Cap, Marvel Studios' Captain America 4 is currently in development.
