Sophie, Countess Of Wessex, And Meghan Markle Had Similar Fates When They Joined The Royal Family
During a previous interview, royal commentator Duncan Larcombe talked about Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s experiences as a royal. He said that she didn’t always have it easy especially when she first joined the royal family. In fact, the things that she went through may be far worse than what Meghan Markle experienced.
“Sophie didn’t have an easy ride and you could argue that it was worse than Meghan’s arrival into the royal family. But after the scandal, she changed her circle of friends and proceeded to transform herself into an ideal royal wife. She adapted, she survived and now she flourishes,” he said (via Express).
Larcombe added that Sophie Countess of Wessex and Markle had similar experiences because they both had successful careers outside The Firm. However, the former made sacrifices to be able to help the queen, and the latter decided to quit her duties after two years.

Over the years, Sophie, Countess of Wessex has become more visible in public. She was even the first one who publicly spoke about Prince Philip’s death. Sophie has also been making public appearances with Queen Elizabeth. And during the pandemic, she continued to perform her royal duties virtually.
According to Larcombe, Sophie stepped up to the plate shortly after Prince Harry and Markle quit their duties, and after Prince Andrew stepped down from his royal role.
“She’s very hard-working and people that meet her absolutely rave about her. Sophie did not take the narrative of being a victim,” he said.

Sophie, Countess Of Wessex PR Scandal Revisited
Years ago, Sophie was also involved in a huge scandal after an impostor recorded his conversation with the mom of two. At the time, Sophie reportedly bragged about her royal connections.
Shortly after the recording was released, Sophie decided to quit her job at the PR firm. She also released a statement apologizing for the things that she said.
“I am deeply distressed by the carrying out of an entrapment operation on me and my business but I also much regret my own misjudgment in succumbing to that subterfuge,” she said via The Irish Times.
The queen also released a statement saying that Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Prince Edward both expressed their desire to carry on with their royal duties. And she gave them her blessing.
Her Majesty faced backlash following her decision. Senior Labour backbencher, Tony Wright urged the prime minister to start a debate regarding the modernization of the British monarchy.
“If we don't have something like a select committee or a commission on the monarchy, it will be the end of the monarchy anyway… We now have to decide how and why we can make constitutional monarchy work,” he said.
Today, Sophie, Countess of Wessex has seemingly placed the PR scandal behind her. She’s now focusing more on helping Queen Elizabeth, Prince Edward, and the royal family.
