Sony Reportedly Eyeing to Bring Back Emma Stone to Play Spider-Gwen

After the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Venom films, Sony is gearing up to develop more Spider-Man-related projects where they will introduce more characters from the comics including Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, and such. Now, it looks like they are eyeing to bring Spider-Gwen into live-action and they have their eyes on an actress.

Scooper MyTimeToShineHello confirmed a rumor that Sony is eyeing to bring back Emma Stone to play Spider-Gwen in a live-action project. Of course, the actress previously played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films although she died by the end of the second one. We do have to take note that this didn't come from the major trades nor confirmed by Sony so we have to take this with a grain of salt for now.

If Stone does end up coming back, it poses a huge problem since Gwen Stacy met her demise by the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The only possible explanation is if it's going to be a variant from another universe similar to the character's appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The actress is also 33 years old now and the character is usually portrayed as a younger character unless they will go for a route that would make her align with Stone's age.

It should be noted however that the rumor didn't indicate that the role has been offered to Stone so it's not yet definitive and there is a chance that the actress won't actually be playing Spider-Gwen at all. She's also busy now as she's involved with a lot of projects ever since she won an Oscar a few years ago and there is a possibility that she will turn down the role if she gets offered.
