Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Casts The Suicide Squad's Idris Elba as Knuckles

We already know that Knuckles is coming in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and it looks like the burly echidna will have a voice to match. The Suicide Squad star Idris Elba has just confirmed that he's playing Knuckles with an awesome tease.

Knuckles was bound to make an appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 after the success of the first film. Although it was only Tails who showed up in the mid-credits scene of the 2020 movie, it had been confirmed that Knuckles will play a major role in the sequel.

But who will play Knuckles in Sonic 2? Elba confirmed the casting by tweeting an image of the character's trademark glove. Check it out below.

We're loving the idea of Elba playing Knuckles in Sonic 2. After all, the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw star has a distinct voice that has a personality of its own. He's also proven to be an excellent voice actor in films like Zootopia, Finding Dory, and The Jungle Book. Needless to say, Elba is a welcome addition to the sequel.

We now have Knuckles but who will provide the voice of Tails? Colleen O'Shaughnessey had previously played Tails in the 2020 film. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether she will reprise her video game role in the upcoming sequel. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also star Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular blue hedgehog. The film is scheduled for release on April 8, 2022.
