Sister Wives Star Meri Brown Confirms Split From Husband Kody Brown After 32 Years Of Marriage

Entertainment Tonight got an exclusive look at TLC's Sister Wives one-on-one special. In the clip, Meri speaks with host Sukanya Krishnan. However, before that, footage of Kody speaking about his relationship with Meri was played while they watched it.

"I don't really consider myself married to Mary," Kody says in the teaser obtained by ET. "If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn't get an argument with me."

"How does that make you feel when Kody says that he doesn't consider himself married to you and that if you were able to find somebody else that he'd be okay with it. How does that make you feel?"

Meri gave an honest reply to the host. She admitted that what she heard from Kody didn't make sense to her.

"It just doesn't make sense to me that he would be so frustrated with Christine and be like she just made this decision. We didn't consult, we didn't talk, she just made the decision and then he says, no I don't consider myself married to Meri, like he just made the decision," Meri says.

"I've never heard him say that to me even since being in Flagstaff. He has led me to believe that he was trying, you know, our first anniversary that we had here in Flagstaff. Cheers to a new beginning, you know, as opposed to this last anniversary, he's like I don't even know why you called me Meri. He's like 'were's not married. We're not acting as married.' And I said to him, then if that's where we are don't you think that we should address that publicly and he said 'No, I don't want to address it. I don't want that to be out there publicly because I don't want that judgment.'"

After hearing Meri's response, Krishnan asked about the status of the couple's relationship — if they are still married. Apparently, Meri was hurt by what she saw in the footage and announced their separation after 32 years of marriage.

"Well, he's already made the decision. You just saw by him say that, you just saw him say that," Meri responded.

The host asked if they would reconsider reconciliation. Meri was open to it, but she was sure Kody would not be interested in it. Krishnan said that there was a moment when Kody spoke to her about reconciling with Meri. However, the latter said she was not aware of it.

Sister Wives Star Kody Brown Left With One Wife After Meri, Janelle And Christine Left Him

Polygamous Kody Brown has four wives — Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn. He considers himself "spiritually married" to them and legally married to Robyn. He was legally married to Meri in 1990 and divorced her in 2014 to marry Robyn. However, Kody and Meri still considered themselves spiritually married until the recent bombshell.

Christine ended her 27 years of marriage with Kody in November 2021. A year later, Janelle confirmed that she had been separated from Kody for a couple of months already.

"I think if we both really sat down, we'd look at each other and say, 'Really?'" Janelle said in a teaser for Sister Wives: One-on-One special, Us Weekly reported. "We've been separated for several months."

Following Christine's departure, Kody said that the family was in a "civil war." Christine and Janelle have maintained a close friendship among the four sister wives.

Following Kody's separation from Christine, Meri and Janelle, she's left with her fourth wife, Robyn. Prior to Kody's separation from his three sister wives, sources claimed that he had a favorite — Robyn.

"The other wives can't compete against Robyn," an unnamed source told Us Weekly. "Robyn and Kody are a dream couple. She has him wrapped around her finger."

The polygamous Brown patriarch reportedly treats Robyn "like a queen," and the two of them "act like they're still newlyweds" and "very much in love."

Christine once spoke about their "dysfunctional marriage" and Kody's "fully functional marriage" with Robyn before her separation from Kody.

"Why would I wanna live on a property with a dysfunctional marriage while right over there he has a fully functional marriage. Who would ever want to live like that," Christine said in the teaser.

Sister Wives: One-on-One special will consist of three episodes airing on Dec. 18, Jan. 1 and Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
