Simba and Rafiki Talk in New Spot for The Lion King

Though Donald Glover is playing the lead of The Lion King, the promo materials that have been released have barely let us hear what he sounds like as the adult Simba. What's cool is, we have a new spot where Simba finally speaks, and here we see him talking to John Kani's Rafiki.

The scene where Rafiki gives Simba the pep talk to come back is one of the most crucial in the film, and it also builds up to Simba getting the vision of his dad. It's interesting that Rafiki should also use the line, "He lives in you," since the movie is also going to include the He Lives in You number from the Lion King sequel, Simba's pride.

This is also unrelated, but kind of interesting, but both Glover and Kani have starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Glover plays Miles Morales' uncle Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Kani was the father of T'Challa in Black Panther and Captain America: Civil War.

It's also interesting that the director of this movie, Jon Favreau, is going to be featured in Spider-Man: Far from Home—He's the guy who pays Happy Hogan.

Though the main focus of next week is going to be Far from Home, I'm sure Disney also wants some attention on the release of The Lion King. They are making a lot of bank with their recent release of Aladdin, and I'm sure they want to see this remake of one of their classic films received in the same way.

Catch The Lion King remake when it comes out July 19.
