Shazam! Fury of the Gods Star Eager To Team Up With The Suicide Squad

DC’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods is right around the corner, and the first reactions are massively positive, garnering comments such as “super fun” and definitely “more explosive” than its first film. Now, upon returning to the screen, Shazam! star Ross Butler recently shared the DC group the Shazamily would want to team up with in the DC Universe.

“[Grace Caroline Currey] wants to study business for the sake of [having a] real job. Meanwhile, D.J. and I were over here like yeah, we want to mash up with the Suicide Squad.” Butler told CBR.com, “I want to have psychopathic lunatic murderers and children forced to work together, like Legion in tone. It’s kind of dark, but also [hilarious], and I think that would be a great matchup.”

Truly, while horrifying to imagine, this could be a gateway of introducing the softer side of DCU and potentially, Suicide Squad. After all, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn may have been rough on going up against enemies, but her heart remained soft and attached to the little girl in Birds of Prey.

It would be possible for the DCU to set up a future for the Shazamily and Suicide Squad to meet at some point. However, this would remain in the hands of DC Studios boss James Gunn and Peter Safran. If Shazam does get to collaborate with the other DC heroes, then perhaps their future in the DCU isn’t dim at all.

It is worth noting that a major Justice League member is rumored to make an appearance in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, according to the new trailer footage we got. Is this where the interconnection of the DCU films begin?

The cast of Shazam! Fury of the Gods includes Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Djimon Hounsou, Grace Caroline Currey, D.J. Cotrona, Jovan Armand, and Rizwan Manji.

DC Studios’ Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently slated to premiere this coming March 17th.
