Servant Season 3 will feature a biblical-scale story, according to M. Night Shyamalan.

Considering the writer-director’s work, it should come as no surprise that Shyamalan's Servant is a slow-burning thriller with an almost stifling sense of dread and a slew of unexpected and unforeseen twists.

What Can We Expect From Servant Season 3?

Servant started out as a wacky horror story about a bereaved couple (Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell), a peculiar young nanny (Nell Tiger Free), and a lifelike baby doll that inexplicably converted into a real child.

But since then, there have been other discoveries regarding nanny Leanne and her dubious "relatives," implying all sorts of evil goings-on just outside the story's boundaries - without the show being overt about the nature of specific characters and their motivations.

If Shyamalan's latest comments are any clue, Servant's enigmatic and slow-burning tendencies aren't going away anytime soon. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the series' creator discussed Season 3 plans, promising a story that is both grandiose and intimate.

"I love the balance of telling large-scale stories, Biblical-scale stories, but from a very restrained and restricted portal,” Shymalan said. “I never will let go of that portal, but I don't know, at the end of The Exorcist, if I needed more of the mythology. “

“I could feel the larger mythology at work. And, hopefully, when we're done telling the story, you'll have that balance as well, that you can sense the larger story in a very satisfying way."

Will There be a Servant Season 4?

The spooky Apple TV+ brainchild of the creative director premiered in 2019 and was recently renewed for a fourth season. However, it has already been established that Season 4 will be the show's final season.

Servant will continue to be sparing with details concerning nanny Leanne's background and the actions of the scary religious cult the Church of Lesser Saints, based on Shyamalan's statement that fans would have to “sense the larger story.”

In Servant Season 2, viewers were given more details about the church's practices, including information about its bizarre "purification" ritual. There will undoubtedly be more similar revelations in Season 3, but if Servant has taught us anything, it is that viewers will have to wait for the information they seek.

Servant Season 3 premieres on Apple TV+ on Jan. 21, 2022.
