Scream 6 Unveils the Most Bizarre and "Puzzling" Image Yet

When it comes to bizarre marketing, Scream VI (2023) just doesn't know how to quit. But then why would it? The film is just months from release, and no one knows how to have fun with their victims - er, audiences - than Ghostface, the only iconic slasher killer who likes to partake in some movie trivia from time to time. But this latest puzzle from Scream might leave you baffled...

Recently, the official Scream Twitter account has been busy sharing some interesting posters and images relating to the film, each of them riddled with more Easter eggs, references and clues than Scream 2's Ghostface killer Mickey is with bullets by the end of the third act.

One poster, a festive-themed picture of Times Square, sees Ghostface dominating all the billboards while references to the latest in-universe Stab movie and a musical of some kind has fans scratching their heads. And a New York City Subway-map style image confuses us even more.

Clearly, the studio just wants to keep us entertained while we wait for the full trailer (a teaser dropped a few weeks ago, but it's still not quite enough for fans to sink their teeth into). But now, the Scream Twitter account has shared yet another bizarre image, this time in the form of a crossword puzzle!

As you can see, the crossword puzzle contains some interesting questions and blanks to fill in, as well as other cryptic clues. But what's the point in any of them? Do they all lead to one final major clue? And if so, how? It's not like there are any highlighted boxes that would reveal an anagram of some kind.

Does it even relate to anything interesting, or is the studio simply trying to hold our attention while we wait for the second trailer? Or perhaps they're a little worried that fans are starting to check out seeing as Neve Campbell won't be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in the sixth installment.

Neither scenario is at all likely, but on the other hand, we highly doubt that these images, whether drawings of Times Square or Ghostface-themed subway maps or, of all things, crossword puzzles, lead to anything consequential. After all, why would the studio and the filmmakers risk spoiling the film?
