Samaritan Trailer Shows Sylvester Stallone as a Retired Superhero

There is no denial that Sylvester Stallone is one of the most iconic action stars of all time with the numerous films that he starred in for decades. The beloved icon has also ventured into the comic book genre by playing Stakar Ogord in the MCU and voicing King Shark in the DCEU. Now, the Rocky Balboa actor is set to play a superhero himself and we finally have our first full look.

Amazon has released the official trailer for Samaritan which gave us a glimpse at Stallone as a character named Mr. Smith, a retired superhero who was thought to be dead and now living a simple life as a garbage collector. It also showed a lot of awesome action sequences from the iconic actor and several interactions between him and Javon Walton's Sam, a 13-year-old kid who recognized him as the hero.

Based on the footage, it looks like it is going to be a fun action film to watch and it's also great to see Stallone being a badass even at his age. It also seems inevitable for the actor to play a role like this in his career even though he was already in comic book movies in the past few years. This has the potential to be a hit amongst the audience and it's interesting to see what they have in store.

The film's logline reads: "Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin."

Besides Stallone (who also co-produced) and Walton, the cast also includes Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. Julius Avery directed the film. The story was previously adapted into Mythos Comics graphic novels that were first published in 2014.
