“They believe I’m Ben Affleck and I’ve never corrected them,” Ryan Reynolds revealed on an episode of the Dear Hank & John podcast.

The Deadpool star is talking about an East Village pizza place in New York, whose workers apparently think he is J.Lo’s boyfriend. And being the national treasure that he is, he’s totally fine with it.

Playing Along

“They’ll ask how J.Lo is, and I go ‘great’ and just get my pizza and go off,” he continued.

When one of the hosts mentioned that this kind of circumstance may become a problem if it isn't addressed early enough, Reynolds agreed, adding that admitting he wasn't the Boston-bred Affleck "would not go over well."

Reynolds, however, made it obvious that, while he plays along, he doesn't take advantage of the mistaken identity.

Lopez, 52, and Affleck, 49, made their rekindled romance official on Instagram in July with a snapshot of them enjoying a passionate kiss.

Affleck was formerly married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 9.

Since 2012, Reynolds has been married to actress Blake Lively, with whom he has three children: Inez, 5, James, 7, and Betty, 2.

It may seem strange that Reynolds was mistaken for Affleck, but it's not the first time they've been confused. On Twitter in 2015, a fan questioned if anyone could tell the two apart. Reynolds, of course, had a good laugh at the fan's expense, tweeted, "Mom, please get off Twitter. Now."

The Other Ryan

He says that when he isn't mistaken for Affleck, he is frequently mistaken for Ryan Gosling, the other famous Canadian Ryan.

"Years ago, I used to play fast and a little loose more on Twitter. These days, I'm a little bit more reserved," he said, before repeating a joke he once quipped about how to tell him apart from Gosling. "I said, 'Well the difference is easy to spot. Ryan Gosling has blond hair and Ryan Reynolds is a [expletive]."

Reynolds believes it would have been a disaster if he had starred in The Notebook instead of Gosling.

Dear Hank & John is a podcast hosted by the Green brothers: musician and author Hank Green and young-adult novelist John Green. The show offers “both humorous and heartfelt advice about life's big and small questions.”
