Ryan Reynolds Congratulates The Adam Project Co-Star Walker Scobell for Percy Jackson Reboot Casting

The Adam Project is Ryan Reynolds' recent venture into the streaming service Netflix, which quickly scored 92.4 million hours viewed, marking the third-biggest opening weekend on the streaming platform. Alongside Reynolds, he was joined by Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldaña, Jennifer Garner, and his younger Adam self, Walker Scobell. The Adam Project follows Adam (Reynolds), a time-traveling pilot from a distant future who accidentally traveled back in the wrong timeline to meet his younger self (Walker Scobell). Throughout the film, Scobell easily pulled off an accurate portrayal of Ryan Reynolds' stubborn character, which the fans generally loved.

Now that Reynolds is set to return for Deadpool 3, reuniting with The Adam Project director Shawn Levy to helm the threequel, Walker Scobell was just recently announced by Disney to play Percy Jackson in the upcoming reboot of the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and The Olympians, currently in development with Disney+.

Ryan Reynolds took on his Twitter account to congratulate his co-star, Walker Scobell, saying, "You were always a demigod in my mind."

While it appears that Walker Scobell and Ryan Reynolds had a good time filming The Adam Project, unfortunately, the film seems to be a one-and-done deal. Netflix has not yet announced any updates about The Adam Project 2. However, due to the film's success, Netflix might still consider developing a sequel to reunite Scobell and Reynolds' Adam.

For Ryan Reynolds' side of things, the actor will reprise his role in his fan-beloved superhero character in Deadpool 3, which is confirmed to be helmed by Shawn Levy, marking the film as Reynolds and Levy's third film after Free Guy and The Adam Project. Deadpool 3 is currently in writing development and will reportedly start filming mid-2022, pushing a release date next year, 2023.

Walker Scobell will now be starring as the new Percy Jackson in the upcoming Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. However, the series is also still in development with Disney, and a potential release date hasn't been announced yet.
