Russian Doll Season 2 Trailer Sees Nadia Going Back in Time Through the New York Subway

It's been three years now since the first season of Russian Doll was released on Netflix and viewers have been dying to see what's next for Nadia and Alan's existential time-bending adventure. We've known for a while that they've been working for a second season which also delayed its production start as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, after years of waiting, we finally have the first full look at the highly-anticipated sophomore season.

Netflix has released the official trailer for the second season of Russian Doll which gave us an extended look at the next chapter in Nadia's time-bending journey after being stuck in a time loop during the first season. We see her taking the New York subway which turns out to be some sort of a time machine as she traveled back to the 1980s. As the trailer went by, they showed that Nadia is seemingly also traveling to other decades and eras as she and Alan are wondering why they broke time again.

Based on what they've shown, it looks like the second season might be more bonkers than the first as they are now dealing with actual time travel instead of just being stuck in a time loop. There are a lot of fun possibilities with that concept, but there's also a lot of explanation that they have to do in order to explain why it is happening to Nadia. As long as it will be as great as the first season, it should be a fun watch.

The second season of Russian Doll's logline reads: "Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality's time loop together, season two will continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan's most notorious locations, the New York City subway. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out."
