The royal family did not expect Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's 2021 Christmas card. According to a royal expert, the senior royals were "confused" after seeing it.

Royal Family 'Confused' With Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Christmas Card

Royal expert Neil Sean weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 2021 Christmas Card. According to him, it wasn't how the royal family would usually do it.

"According to those good sources, they were rather confused and let me explain the reasons why," Sean said as quoted by Express. "As we all know, Prince Harry was born a British Prince and there's nothing more sacred to our gracious Majesty the Queen than her Christian faith and this particular time of year, she holds it with great affection."

He continued, "In fact, it was one of the most favorite times of the year for Her Majesty and the late Duke of Edinburgh so you can imagine I'm suspecting her dismay at the Christmas greeting which was on the cards now. I'm told this phrase Happy Holidays is very much a Californian slang."

Sean also believed that the senior royals probably find the family picture interesting. In the snap, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two kids Archie and baby Lili, were a picture of a seemingly happy family.

Prince Harry and Markle used "Merry Christmas" in their Christmas card last year.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's 2021 Christmas Card Versus Last Year

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's 2021 Christmas card was very different from last year. Aside from baby Lili's addition, the Sussexes added a charity entity in their recent card.

"This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a 'Mama' and a 'Papa,' and Lili made us a family," Harry and Meghan said in their card. "As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families — from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave."

Meanwhile, last year, the family of three used stylized picture of them. It also featured the family's rescue dogs, Guy, a beagle and Pula, a black lab.

The 2021 picture was captured by professional photographer Alexi Lubomirski. Meanwhile, last year, their picture was taken by Markle's mom, Doria Ragland.

"Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," the royal couple wrote.
