Riverdale Season 7 will serve as the last and final season of The CW series, but this one will be different compared to its previous seasons. Madelaine Petsch, who plays the role of Cheryl, hints at what the new season’s theme will be this time.

The show explored different concepts in the past six seasons, from horror to alternate realities and more. It looks like Riverdale Season 7 will be more grounded and focus mostly on relationships if Petsch’s words are anything to go by.

Madelaine Petsch Teases Riverdale Season 7

In an interview with Variety to promote the new holiday romcom Hotel for the Holidays, Petsch revealed the final season would call back to the first season.

The 28-year-old answered the question of the show’s storylines could get crazier than she thought, though she promised she wouldn’t say anything much about the new season.

“There is one pretty major thing in my family life that’s bizarre and amazing,” she said.

“Other than that, this season is very grounded and focused around relationships,” she continued. “You’re really getting what made the show so special in Season 1, which was the relationships in the town. This season is more pared down with the craziness, but there are some bizarre things happening.”

Riverdale Season 7 to Return to the 1950s

The previous season saw Chery destroying the comet that tried to ruin the town. However, after the ordeal, everyone was sent to the 1950s, and only Jughead (Cole Sprouse) had recollections of what happened.

The showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed, via ScreenRant, that Riverdale Season 7 would partly deconstruct the myth that the 1950s was a perfect time and how it didn’t apply to everyone.

He even said the show’s final season could be compared to HBO’s hit drama series Euphoria, set in a different era.

This might even be a nod to the new season’s premiere episode title, Don’t Worry Darling, similar to the 2021 movie directed by Olivia Wilde.

Alternatively, Lily Reinhart, who plays the role of Betty, revealed the new season would be refreshing, promising fans they would surely enjoy the finale.
