Rick Riordan Updates on Percy Jackson Series for Disney+

Percy Jackson and the Olympians may have been messed up by 20th Century Fox, but Disney is set to do the franchise right with a reboot on Disney+. Author Rick Riordan is heavily involved with the making of the series, and he offers us an update on the show.

Here's his post:

What's interesting is that Riordan would go so far as to tag Lin-Manuel Miranda on the post, leading some to speculate whether he could be involved with the show or not. If he should be cast though, I can imagine him playing any one of the gods, maybe even Poseidon himself. Either that or he could be Percy's centaur teacher Mr. Brunner; I'm just spit-balling here.

Going back to the show though, it's interesting to see that it's still in very early stages. With the pandemic still on full swing, it would probably be difficult to move forward, especially when it comes to casting and chemistry tests.

With the series being a complete reboot of the franchise, I'm hoping that Disney manages to capture what made the books interesting, especially the depiction of the gods during modern times. I would also love it if they cast an actual kid to play Percy, this way we could actually see him grow and mature as the franchise does—much like what happened with Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter.

No release date has been set for Disney+'s adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
