Ray Stevenson, best known for the movies Punisher: War Zone, King Arthur, and the Thor film series, has died. He was 58.

Ray Stevenson’s Life and Career
Stevenson was born in Lisburn, Country Antrim, Northern Ireland, in the United Kingdom in 1964.
He studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School and made his small screen debut in a small part in the 1993 A Woman’s Guide to Adultery.
He then had a recurring role on Band of Gold two years later and appeared in five episodes of Drover’s Gold.
The actor also did 32 episodes of City Central and finally made his big screen debut in the 1998 movie The Theory of Flight with Helena Bonham Carter and Kenneth Branagh.
Stevenson had his first lead role in the 2008 Outpost, followed by The Book of Eli, The Three Musketeers, Thor, Thor: The Dark World, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Divergent, and The Divergent Series: Insurgent.
He’s best known for his roles as Titus in the TV series Rome and Isaak Sirko in Dexter.
In addition, he acted on stage in York Mystery Plays, Mouth to Mouth, and The Duchess of Malfi.
With these to his name, Stevenson amassed a net worth of $8 million.
Ray Stevenson Dead at 58
Stevenson died in Italy Sunday; Variety confirmed with the star’s publicist.
Though no cause of death was given, he was reportedly hospitalized while filming on the Italian island of Ischia for the action movie Cassino in Ischia.

Stevenson’s death was announced four days before his 59th birthday.
Stars Pay Tribute to Ray Stevenson
Several stars are now paying tribute to Stevenson on social media.
James Purefoy, who worked with him on the TV series Rome, described him as a “brilliant, gutsy, larger-than-life actor who filled every part he played right up to the brim.”
Rosario Dawson, who will also appear in the upcoming series Ashoka with Stevenson, called him a “giant of a man,” his death left her “stunned and reeling.”

In addition, the second Thor movie director James Gunn said the late actor was a “joy to work with.”
The composer of the Black Sails TV series soundtrack Bear McCreary praised Stevenson’s “mesmerizingly unforgettable” turn as Blackbeard in the show.
Lastly, Scott Adkins, who starred with him in Accident Man, admitted he was “shocked and saddened by the tragic news.”
“I will miss you, Big Ray!” he confessed.
