While it was confirmed before to release in Spring 23, the new Ranking of Kings anime finally has an official release date. Recently, a new trailer for Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage was released, revealing its April release date.

Along with its release date, the new trailer also showed off brand-new footage.

It also revealed the opening and ending theme performers along with snippets of the songs.

What’s still not clear, though, is the length of this highly anticipated new project in the series.

While it’s far from the typical anime look, Wit Studios’ Ranking of Kings was well-received by fans when the first season premiered in Fall 2021. Since then, many have been clamoring for a proper second season.

Back in August 2022, a series of special episodes was announced, entitled Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage.

While it’s not clear if this new project can be considered a proper Season 2, it does seem like it.

Specifically, instead of reusing the first season’s opening, this new project tapped PEOPLE 1 for the new opening song called Gold.

PEOPLE 1 is best known now for their song DOGLAND, which served as the 11th ending of the Chainsaw Man anime.

Ranking of Kings isn’t stopping there though, as they also tapped Aimer for the ending song, Atemonaku (or Aimlessly in English).

Aimer also performed the eighth ending song for Chainsaw Man. Though even before this, Aimer has been widely known among anime fans for her work in Demon Slayer, the Fate series, and more.

While the trailer revealed the opening and ending songs, the series’ episode count remains confusing and mysterious.

Treasure Chest of Courage is referred to as a “special episode” based on the trailer, but it doesn’t seem to be just one episode.

This is supported by the fact that the show’s website states that new episodes will air every Friday.

Because of this, it’s likely that the anime will have a couple of episodes, though its promotion and wording do make it seem like a short OVA series, possibly with just around six episodes instead of the full 11-13.

What we do know for now is that Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage will be released on April 13, 2023.

However, there’s no word yet on an international release platform and schedule.
