Rachel Zegler Trends After Blunt Statement Towards DCU's Shazam

Some actors take up roles because it’s their dream to do so, but for others, accepting jobs is just the same as everyone’s need to be employed and have a job that pays, and West Side Story star Rachel Zegler is one of us. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now playing exclusively in theaters, ushering in the next chapter of the "Shazamily" saga. In addition to the returning members of the film's ensemble, the sequel features a slew of new cast members. Among them is Zegler, who plays Athena in in the film.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for Fury of the Gods, Zegler was asked what drew her to the DC Universe. “I needed a job,” she said. “I'm being so serious.” Some take the actress’ response as a joke, while others find it relatively true. Here's what fans have to say about Zegler's funny and relatable answer.

In her previous interview, the 21-year-old actress talked about the experience of landing the role of one of three goddess daughters of the Titan Atlas. “The reality was we were in the middle of the pandemic, and I was not working. I couldn't get a job for the life of me because West Side Story hadn't come out yet,” she said. “It was really hard to book work for me, so I was really excited when this came in my inbox,”

Zegler also went on to discuss how grateful she is for the job and how she feels about now being part of the second movie. “I loved the first movie, and the fact that they even wanted me to come in for a callback and then a camera read and everything in between, I'm so lucky that I got this job. I made some of my best friends on this job. I just absolutely adore this movie too, so I'm excited.” she reasoned.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now playing in cinemas worldwide.
