Queen Elizabeth decided to keep the results of the investigation about Meghan Markle's alleged bullying private. The move received mixed responses from the royal fans. One royal expert claimed that the royals could be extending an olive branch to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by doing so ahead of the release of Prince Harry's memoir.

Is Queen Elizabeth Extending An Olive Branch To Prince Harry And Meghan Markle?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept a low profile when they returned to the U.K. for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration. They were reportedly careful not to steal the limelight from the Queen, who was celebrating her 70 years on the throne.

However, many believed that they were not welcomed warmly by the people and the royals. Weeks after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reunion with the royal family, the report about the bullying investigation involving the duchess made headlines. The palace is reportedly burying it by not sharing the results with the public.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believed that the move was an "olive branch" and "not a monument to transparency." The royals are probably preparing for Prince Harry's upcoming memoir.

"The Palace, faced with the possibility of a memoir by Harry later this year and who knows what else if the Sussexes, as budding philanthropists, were antagonised, has simply closed it down," Fitzwilliams said as quoted by Express. "This is obviously an olive branch to the Sussexes too."

He added, "This is not a monument to transparency and those involved may well feel hard done by, especially considering the allegations that Meghan ill-treated staff."

Queen Elizabeth Reportedly Fed Up With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Drama

Meanwhile, an anonymous royal insider said the Queen wanted to draw a line and had enough of the drama involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

"It was damage limitation, protecting the royal family and also the Duchess of Sussex," the insider told Vanity Fair. "The Queen feels there has been enough drama around the Sussexes, and she wants a line to be drawn."

Royal biographer and correspondent Katie Nicholl echoed the same sentiment. She believed that keeping the results private was the Queen's way of avoiding further drama.

"Everything that I'm hearing at the moment out of the palace, is that the Queen doesn't want any more drama. She just doesn't want any more dirty linens aired in public," Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight.

"By taking it in-house, which is essentially what the Queen has done, she is trying to limit any further damage, any further damage to the monarchy, potentially any further damage to those members of staff who have made those allegations and also, possibly to the Duchess of Sussex, who denied those allegations."

Markle has denied the bullying allegation and called it a "calculated smear campaign" against her.
