Queen Elizabeth has always put her duty first. As such, she was previously accused of being distant to her two oldest children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

When Prince Charles tied the knot with Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, the queen proved yet again that her duty came first. The monarch didn’t attend the couple’s civil ceremony, and in her statement, she said that she did not feel that her position permitted her to be at her son’s wedding.

After all, Camilla was Prince Charles’ mistress for years. Their affair started while the heir to the throne was still married to Princess Diana. Even after the Prince and Princess of Wales divorced, royal fans condemned Camilla for destroying the former couple’s marriage.

Queen Elizabeth Still Sees Camilla As The One That Destroyed Prince Charles’ First Marriage

Globe, in its Nov. 29 issue, claimed that the queen and Camilla’s relationship has not recovered after all these years. In fact, Her Majesty is, allegedly, dying, but she still has grudges towards Prince Charles’ wife because she has never forgiven Camilla for engaging in adultery.

A source said that the queen and Camilla are showing a united front in public, but there’s still tension between them behind closed doors. Prince Charles is reportedly caught between his mom and his wife.

“Charles still faces an uphill battle behind the scenes to make his mother accept Camilla, who she branded ‘that wicked woman’ in a brutal showdown that left the Prince of Wales in tears,” the magazine claimed.

Prince Philip Disliked Camilla Parker Bowles

They also claimed that Her Majesty and Prince Philip always looked down on Camilla because they saw her as a power-crazed vamp who destroyed Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.

Royal author Tom Bower also weighed in on the queen and Camilla’s complicated relationship and said that the monarch and her late husband refused to have anything to do with Camilla for years.

“Not only did they not want her present at any royal function, either formal or informal, they actively disproved of her and Charles’ relationship with her,” Bower said.

Prince Charles Begged For Queen Elizabeth To Accept Camilla Parker Bowles

On one occasion, Prince Charles reportedly begged for the queen to accept Camilla, but the monarch still refused. To make things worse, Her Majesty, who already had a few glasses of martini lashed out at her eldest son and she also called Camilla wicked.

“On that evening, she’d had several martinis, and to Charles’ surprise, she replied forcefully: She would not condone his adultery, nor forgive Camilla for not leaving Charles alone to allow his marriage to recover,” Bower said.

The confrontation between the two senior royals ended with Prince Charles breaking down in tears and then walking out. He immediately called Camilla to share with her what happened.

Over the years, the queen tried to accept Camilla for the sake of her son. But the magazine insisted that things never really improved between the two women.

“Her Majesty is old-fashioned and, in her heart, I suspect she still sees Camilla as a tawdry temptress unfit to help her son rule,” the source concluded.

Queen Elizabeth, Camilla Parker Bowles’ Relationship Now

In the book The Duchess: The Untold Story, royal author Penny Junor made similar claims about the queen and Camilla’s relationship. She said that the queen’s feelings toward Camilla didn’t change even after Princess Diana passed away.

“The Queen had wanted [Camilla] gone before Diana’s death and she felt no different after it. It was nothing personal. She had been very fond of Camilla in all the years she had been married to Andrew, but it was Camilla who had been responsible, wittingly or not, for all the disasters that had befallen the price since his marriage,” Junor wrote via Express.

But the royal biographer also said that Prince Charles did everything that he could to make sure that his family would accept his second wife.

“[Charles] made it perfectly clear to anyone who would listen that Camilla was a non-negotiable part of his life. [The Queen’s] stance was one of monarch, not mother, and therein was the problem. Her son badly needed support and this woman had given it to him. She had rescued him from the depths of depression, had shown him love and
