Queen Elizabeth II was allegedly not as considerate to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle compared to her treatment of Prince Andrew. Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt claimed that the royal family should have adjusted to keep the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as members of the firm.

Queen Elizabeth II And The Royals Should Have Accommodate Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

Hunt spoke with Irish Times and said the royal family failed to acknowledge the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as an asset. He believed that instead of letting the royal couple go, the royals should have done more to accommodate them.

"Meghan was able to give a speech in South Africa about being a woman of colour who entered an institution that, to survive and prosper, needs to continue being the head of state in several other realms which are Commonwealth countries, and it failed to do enough to keep her within the institution," he was quoted by Express as saying.

He said the monarchy is an institution and the royal family could adjust and make things up as things go along. For him, "they can adjust their history when they need to."

He also made a comparison on how the royal family made some adjustments to accommodate Prince Andrew but not Prince Harry.

"They’ve managed to find a mechanism whereby civilian Prince Edward can attend the Cenotaph wearing a military uniform," Hunt said. "They could have found a mechanism whereby Harry could have carried on. The fact that they didn’t smack of a level of cruelty."

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Relationship

Despite the various rumors about the Sussexes' falling-out with the members of the royal family, the royal couple has been consistent in keeping peace with the Queen. Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have nothing but kind words to say about Her Majesty.

When Prince Harry and Markle sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, both said the Queen had always been kind and nice to them.

Markle said Prince Harry's grandmother "has always been wonderful to" her.

On the other hand, the Duke of Sussex said he never blindsided the Queen about their plans to leave their royal duties because "I have too much respect for her," he told Winfrey, according to BuzzFeed.

Prince Harry admitted that he was hurt when the Queen decided to strip them of their royal patronages and military affiliations. However, the duke maintained that he "completely" respects his grandmother's decision.

Meanwhile, when the Queen addressed the couple's tell-all for the CBS special, Her Majesty said the couple would always remain beloved family members.
