Queen Elizabeth is likely to spend Christmas away from the other royal family members due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This is going to be the second year that Her Majesty is spending the holidays alone.

Previous reports claimed that Queen Elizabeth has been planning for a huge Christmas Day party as she would, allegedly, be reunited with her extended family again. The British Monarch, reportedly, wants to be surrounded by Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and the rest of the royal family members, especially after the shocking demise of Prince Philip in April.

Queen Elizabeth Scraped Christmas Plans Due To COVID-19?

An unnamed Buckingham Palace insider told Reuters that Queen Elizabeth has canceled a pre-Christmas lunch with her family as a precaution while cases of the deadly COVID-19 continue to spike in the United Kingdom.

The source said:

“The decision is a precautionary one as it is felt to put too many people’s Christmas arrangements at risk if it went ahead. While there is regret that it is canceled, there is a belief it is the right thing to do for all.”

The claim came after Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty encouraged the public to scale back their Christmas plans after Britain recorded its most daily COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. Chris, as per Express UK, stated:

“People should be prioritising those things, and only those things, that really matter to them. Don't mix with people you don't have to."

On Sunday, the U.K. recorded more than 80,000 new daily cases for only the fourth time since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Another 12,000 Omicron cases were also reported, taking the total to approximately 37,000.

Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance told ministers over the weekend that new restrictions should be introduced the soonest time possible to avoid the National Health Service (NHS) being under too much pressure. However, Health Secretary Sajid David stated that he could not rule out new restrictions as household mixing would be banned for two weeks.

What Were Queen Elizabeth Plans This Coming Christmas?

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth was allegedly planning to travel to Sandringham House via helicopter on Wednesday. However, this is likely to be canceled as well due to the exacerbating COVID-19 situation in the country.

People reported that Queen Elizabeth would remain at Windsor Castle for the Christmas and New Year break. Her Majesty has spent the majority of the COVID-19 pandemic at Windsor Castle to the west of London.

Most, if not all, royal followers are aware that Queen Elizabeth traditionally stays at her Norfolk estate from late December until early February. Though she was forced to put all her Christmas plans on hold, an unidentified tipster claimed the royal family members would still be visiting the monarch throughout the duration of the holiday season.

This would mark Queen Elizabeth’s first Christmas without her late husband, Prince Philip, who died in April. Despite never being crowned king, the Duke of Edinburgh played a vital role behind closed doors, supporting Her Majesty of seven decades during times of great tumult.
