Queen Elizabeth II and her personal advisor and dresser Angela Kelly have shared a close bond after working for several years together. So, the latter had the opportunity to prank the monarch.

Queen Elizabeth Tricked By Her Right-Hand Woman

In 2006, the Queen traveled to Australia for a royal trip. She brought her personal advisor and dresser, Angela Kelly, to accompany her.

According to Kelly, in her book The Other Side of the Coin, Her Majesty wanted to see kookaburras, terrestrial tree kingfishers of the genus Dacelo native to Australia and New Guinea, while Down Under. Unfortunately, they didn't have any luck.

When Kelly went to a market, she saw a cuddly toy version and decided to have a bit of fun before giving it to Her Majesty.

"I had something in mind I thought the Queen would enjoy," she wrote as quoted by Express.

Kelly put the toy in a cage on the balcony outside the Queen's room. Then she told Her Majesty that she had seen a "funny-looking grey bird" through the window and urged the Queen to take a look.

"The Queen looked outside and shouted 'It's a kookaburra!" Kelly continued. "I went to open the cage doors and she said loudly 'No! Don't do that! It will fly away!' and was behind me in a flash. Turning to her Majesty while trying to keep a straight face, I solemnly told her it was dead."

The Queen looked "horrified" before Kelly admitted it was just a prank.

"She had only two words for me: 'You're sacked,'" Kelly added. "I was laughing uncontrollably as her Majesty turned to His Royal Highness and said, 'Do you know what she has just done to me? Angela has had me!'"

Queen Elizabeth Has Retained Her Sense Of Humor

The Queen has led the monarchy for seven decades. The royal family has faced various controversies and scandals through the years. However, Her Majesty hasn't lost her sense of humor.

Last year, following Prince Philip's passing, Megxit difficulties and Prince Andrew's controversy, the Queen was "cracking jokes" during her official engagements.

"Certainly, before she went up to Scotland, she was everywhere, all over the place and cracking jokes and having fun and a lot of humour," former royal butler Grant Harrold told Express. "That's what I remember working for them is that humorous side of her, and it's really nice to see that despite everything that's happened, she's still got that."
