Royal fans have been seeing less and less of Queen Elizabeth. She was scheduled to attend the Opening of the Parliament but opted to sit it out at the last minute. Prince Charles took over the queen’s spot at the gathering, and he also gave a speech on behalf of his mother.
Multiple sources also claimed that Queen Elizabeth is dealing with some mobility issues. She has reportedly been using a mobility chair but doesn’t want to be seen using one in public. Her Majesty has also been photographed using a cane on multiple occasions. So, it’s not surprising that some royal fans and royal experts believe that she doesn’t have long to live.
Queen Elizabeth’s Final Public Appearance Could Be At Her Platinum Jubilee, Omid Scobie Claimed
In a lengthy rant, Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie talked about Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. He predicted that the four-day event would be the last time that the public would see Her Majesty, that is if she even makes an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
“There is still great uncertainty over just how much we will see of the 96-year-old monarch during the extended Jubilee weekend, especially after her absence at Tuesday’s opening of Parliament due to ongoing ‘episodic mobility problems.’ Palace officials tell me that the queen still plans to take part in the celebrations, however, no appearances will be confirmed until nearer the time or the day of. But what is clear is that these four days might just be one of the last chances the nation and the world will have to see the queen in public like this,” Scobie wrote for Yahoo! News.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Didn’t Want To Appear On The Balcony With The Royal Family
Scobie also seemingly came to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s defense after it was announced that they wouldn’t be joining the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. He said that some insiders are making it seem as though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to reunite with the royal family on the balcony. But this isn’t necessarily the case.
Instead, Prince Harry and Markle simply want to attend the queen’s Platinum Jubilee with their two children, Archie, and Lilibet Diana.
“I’m told by a source that the Duke of Sussex had actually expressed some time ago that he and Meghan were very keen to be a part of the Platinum Jubilee engagements, including the National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral but less so for the formal balcony moment, which was felt on both sides to be more appropriate for their lives prior to stepping back,” Scobie said.
The author and Markle’s friend acknowledged the fact that drama is what makes the story of the royal family so compelling. But he also insisted that this should be set aside for the sake of the monarch.
This isn’t the first time that Scobie talked about the royal family, particularly Prince Harry and Markle. In fact, the author was previously dubbed as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s cheerleader.
Omid Scobie Defends Prince Harry Following His Comments About Queen Elizabeth
Following Prince Harry’s interview with Hoda Kotb last month, Scobie claimed that it is not unusual for the dad of two to be skeptical of every person in Queen Elizabeth’s orbit. After all, his grandmother isn’t getting any younger, and she’s also battling some health issues.
“Having bravely faced a series of health and mobility issues, we often hear how the 96-year-old monarch is impressively 'getting on' with her duties. But, as a grandson and sixth-in-line to the throne, it would only be natural for Harry to question whether every person in her daily orbit has her best interests at heart. Is she being pushed to do too much? Is anyone telling her to slow down? Is there too much pressure to be at Platinum Jubilee events this June? Is she being properly taken care of? These are the kinds of questions any caring person would ask an elderly family member living alone or in a facility run by staff,” Scobie said (via Express).
However, some critics were upset over the fact that Prince Harry had to share details from his meeting with Queen Elizabeth during the interview. They said that matters like this should have stayed private.
