Queen Elizabeth II may have understood her grandson Prince Harry's security demands. However, even if it's difficult for her, she will not intervene with the government's decision.

Queen Elizabeth II Will Choose Duty Over Prince Harry?

Her Majesty found herself in a tricky spot after her grandson, Prince Harry, requested additional security protection when in England. However, the UK Home Office turned his request twice because, according to them, there is low risk for the Duke of Sussex's family.

Royal expert Kristin Contino spoke with Us Weekly about the issue. "It’s] hard for her, as a grandmother, to not really be able to intervene," she told the outlet regarding the Queen's position about the issue.

However, the Queen has no plans to "go up against the government" and convince it to grant her grandson the security he is demanding. The Queen will respect the government's decision because it has conducted a review and concluded that the threat is low.

For the A House Full of Windsor author, it "those situations," Queen Elizabeth is "always going to choose [the] monarch at the end of the day."

Queen Elizabeth And Prince Harry's Relationship

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry have built a close bond. In fact, despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, they have been consistent in praising the Queen's kindness to them.

Royal expert Robert Lacey said she was "very disappointed" when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their jobs. But Her Majesty has remained supportive of her grandson's decisions because she feels for him and she understands what he has been going through.

"She has a particular sensitivity to what Harry has been going through because of her closeness to Margaret and seeing the same dramas and tensions played out two generations ago," Lacey told People. "The younger-sibling syndrome is an enduring problem. The system has not found a way of giving them the recognition that they need."

Prince Harry has struggled to live in the shadow of Prince William, who will be king one day. Queen Elizabeth II, who was extremely close with her younger sister, Princess Margeret, was aware that the latter experienced the same.

Prince Harry and Princess Margeret are known as the "spare," while the Queen and Prince William are the "heir."
