Queen Elizabeth passed due to old age, according to her death certificate. However, a new book claims that she had cancer.

Queen Elizabeth Battled Cancer Before Death?

Gyles Brandreth, a royal confidant, shared more details about the late Queen Elizabeth in his new book Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait. In the book, Brandreth shared the news about Her Majesty's health condition that he heard and hadn't been reported until his recent book.

"I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma — bone marrow cancer — which would explain her tiredness and weight loss and those 'mobility issues' we were often told about during the last year or so of her life. The most common symptom of myeloma is bone pain, especially in the pelvis and lower back, and multiple myeloma is a disease that often affects the elderly," he wrote in an extract obtained by Daily Mail.

He added that there is no known cure for the condition, only treatment, which includes medicines to regulate the immune systems and drugs to prevent the weakening of the bones, which can reduce the severity of its symptoms and extend the patient's survival by months or two to three years.

According to Russell Myers, royal editor at Daily Mirror, when he appeared on Today, Brandreth is "pretty much a friend of the royal and he know the Duke of Edinburgh for 40 years." He is also a former journalist who is very well-connected. His claim about the Queen's health was "sad", and it's "a bit unsavory", and "certainly not things that we would have published," Myers added.

What's Written On Queen Elizabeth's Death Certificate?

The Queen died on Sept. 8. Her death certificate showed that she died from "old age," Showbiz Cheat Sheet reported, noting that it didn't mention "cancer" as what Brandreth claimed in his book.

The palace released a copy of the Queen's death certificate on Sept. 29, three weeks after her death. It noted that she died at 3:10 p.m. at the age of 96. It listed the Queen's official residence as Windsor Castle, although she died at her summer retreat, Balmoral Castle.

The outlet also noted that while it was assumed that the Queen quietly battled cancer, it's difficult to substantiate Brandreth's claims in his book.

Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait will hit shelves on Dec. 8.
