Queen Elizabeth passed away Thursday and many were surprised because the palace did not announce that the late monarch was suffering from an illness. However,  a doctor claimed that King Charles' mother already looked frail in her final royal appointment just days before she passed away.

Queen Elizabeth May Be Suffering From Peripheral Vascular Disease

Dr. Deb Cohen-Jones, who lives in Perth, Western Australia, examined the Queen's photo with UK's new Prime Minister Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle in Scotland Tuesday. According to her, Queen Elizabeth's hand possibly showed a sign of her declining health.

"It looks like there is possibly evidence of peripheral vascular disease. It's a blood circulation disorder that causes the blood vessels outside of your heart and brain to narrow, block, or spasm," Cohen-Jones told FEMAIL.

"It can sometimes result in heart failure. If your peripheral circulation is that poor, organs aren't receiving a good blood supply. It can be a sign of multi organ failure."

The condition's symptoms include intermittent pain, which may present as cramps or muscle fatigue and coldness of the affected body part. Cohen-Jones confirmed that the Queen "would have been in a lot of pain" if she suffered from the chronic disease because "it looks quite severe."

Queen Elizabeth II's Bruised Hand In Her Recent Photocall At Balmoral Castle Caused Concern

Two days before the Queen passed away Thursday, the Queen welcomed the new prime minister. She was photographed welcoming Liz Truss as the 15th prime minister in a meeting at her Scottish home.

Several netizens noticed the Queen's bruised hand and took to Twitter to air their concern, Newsweek reported.

"The Queen's hand in this photograph of her meeting Liz Truss looks very bruised, poor woman," Rupert Myers tweeted along with a photo of the Queen and Truss.

"The Queen seems to have a bruise on her right hand? Maybe from a drip?" Amanda Ferguson, a journalist and Ireland correspondent, wrote.

However, hours before her passing, the palace announced that her doctors were concerned for her health.

"Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," a statement from the Buckingham Palace read Thursday lunchtime.  "The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

However, just hours after the announcement, the next statement released was the Queen's passing.

"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow," the Royal Family announced on its official Twitter account.
