Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story answered a lot of Bridgerton questions, like who was Lady Danbury’s husband and what happened to King George III. But one thing Bridgerton fans have been wondering is if Reynolds died in Queen Charlotte.

While Queen Charlotte and King George were busy dealing with their complicated romance, the royal footmen, Reynolds and Brimsley also find themselves falling in love. They had to work together as a team, and along the way, they secretly fall in love.

In the series, Brimsley and Reynolds share a bath where the former says that they could share a lifetime together just like the Queen and King. In the final episode’s ball, Brimsley and Reynolds lovingly dance together away from the crowd.

But in present-day Bridgerton, Brimsley dances alone in the dark. We also don’t see an older version of Reynolds.

So, did Reynolds die in Queen Charlotte? Thankfully, the answer is no, Reynolds did not die. Series creator Shona Rhimes confirmed that “Reynolds is not dead.”

Since we no longer see an older version of Reynolds in present-day Bridgerton, did Reynolds die in Queen Charlotte? No, Reynolds did not die in the Bridgerton prequel. Shona Rhimes confirmed that Reynolds is still alive.

On her Shondaland website, Rhimes said “Reynolds is not dead. There’s a lot more I could write about that. It was sexy, and it was fun, and it felt very romantic to watch them also have a very real complicated love.”

As to Brimsley’s solo dance in present-day Bridgerton, Rhimes said “I thought the idea that service takes over was really interesting. When you see Brimsley alone, that’s what that’s supposed to convey.”

It can be recalled that in the present day, Queen Charlotte asks Brimsley if he never married. Brimsley then responds that he never got married and “Who could I ever find who would be free to spend a lifetime with me? I am here.”

Thus, since Reynolds did not die (thankfully), his relationship with Brimsley probably just didn’t work out. We have seen throughout the series that duties to the Queen and King drive Brimsley and Reynolds apart.

Whenever Queen Charlotte and King George fought or had prolonged conflicts, they would live separately, which means Brimsley and Reynolds would have to be separated too.

Additionally, the King’s secrets also affected the royal footmen’s relationship. Reynolds, as a loyal servant to the King, had to keep the latter’s illness a secret.

Brimsley even tells Reynolds: “You give me nothing. You tell me nothing but lies. I ask for your help, and you refuse to treat me like a partner or an equal.”

We can probably expect to see Reynolds again in future seasons of Bridgerton or in another season of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, should the prequel be renewed for a Season 2.

Hugh Sachs, the actor who plays the older version of Brimsley, shared with Vulture that initially, the script had a scene where Brimsley and Reynolds meet in present-day Bridgerton.

"There was a scene that we didn't film because it was cut, where I was going to meet the older Reynolds. He was the love of his life, and for whatever reason, they could not stay together. So when they would pass each other in the passageway in the deleted scene, it wasn't a toxic moment. Because of the world they inhabited, it was still a hangable offense to be gay, and it was just not possible,” Sachs shared.

But even though this scene did not happen, at least we know that Reynolds is still alive. Freddie Dennis, the actor who plays Reynolds, also shared with Entertainment Weekly that wherever Reynolds is, he’s still in love with Brimsley.

“What we do know is that wherever Reynolds is, they still love each other very, very much. It's the one thing we held onto. You can see how much Reynolds means to Brimsley in that moment [where he's remembering]. So their love very, very much runs deep and lives on,” said Dennis.

So, while Brimsley and Reynolds don’t end up together in the prequel series, at least we know that Reynolds is still alive. And answering the question "Did Reynolds die in Queen Charlotte?", since Rhimes said that “there’s a lot more I could write about that,” we can probably expect to see an older version of Reynolds in future seasons of Bridgerton.
