King Charles and Queen Camilla's romance stood the test of time. However, it was never easy for them and the people around them that her father reportedly scolded him at one point.

King Charles Reportedly Cried After Queen Camilla's Father Confronted Him Over Their Affair

An anonymous palace insider spoke with Radar Online about King Charles' relationship with Camilla's late father, Bruce Shand. The insider claimed the monarch cried over Shand's harsh words.

"Camilla's dad never liked or respected Charles — and even told him to leave her alone," a palace insider told Radar Online.

According to the tipster, a shocking confrontation happened in 1993 after their forbidden affair was exposed in a series of kinky cell phone calls that were intercepted and made public.

King Charles was still married to Princess Diana and Camilla to her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, while Charles was still wed to Diana, and Camilla was Andrew Parker-Bowles' wife. King Charles and Princess Diana shared two sons, Prince William and Prince Charles. Shand was furious with the affair and reportedly scolded His Majesty moving the latter to tears.

"At a private meeting, Shand scolded Charles for ruining his daughter's life, reducing the prince to tears," the source claimed.

"Shand ordered Charles to man up and show some honor and decency. He reminded the prince he was sleeping with another man's wife, which was a disgrace to the monarchy and his role in the Church of England. He told Charles Camilla's husband was the better man."

Who Is King Charles' Father-In-Law Bruce Shand?

Camilla's father died in 2006, a year after she and King Charles got married. Major Bruce Shand was a decorated war hero.

He was captured and held as a prisoner of war during the Second World War. She opened up about her father's impact on her when she shared that it was him, who influenced her to love reading. Camilla launched her reading room on Instagram in January 2021 after turning to books under lockdown in 2020, when she gave her own recommendations to fellow readers.

"I think it certainly came from my father, he was probably the best-read man I've come across, anywhere. I mean, he devoured books," Camilla said of her dad, Yahoo! News reported. "And so he read to us, as children. He chose the books and we listened. And I think… the love of books was ingrained in us, because, you know, it was there from such an early age."

She also previously said that he was a "brilliant soldier" who "read to us each night and transported us into different worlds."
