Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice almost lost their HRH styles when they were children. However, fate was in their favor because the alleged "cruel" plan was vetoed.

Princess Eugenie And Princess Beatrice Survived A Cruel Plan

When Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were still children, there was reportedly a "cruel" plan to strip them of their princesses and Her Royal Highness (HRH) styles, according to royal historian Marlene Koenig. However, luck was on their side.

"There was a discussion that the York princesses would lose their royal style and become styled as children of a Duke and that got vetoed," Koenig told Express. "I suspect because they were already born and it would have been seen as cruel."

She added, "But it was already decided then that they were not going to be working royals and I think that was a big mistake."

Since both princesses are not working royals, they do not receive money from the Sovereign Grant that pays the Queen annually out of Crown Estate funds. The money is for the working royals who perform their public duties.

Although they are not working royals, both Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie still use the HRH styles.

Princess Eugenie And Princess Beatrice's Future In The Streamlined Monarchy

Prince Charles will be taking over the throne after Queen Elizabeth II. It's not a secret that he wants a streamlined monarchy that would leave the York Princesses out.

"The Royal Family are going to focus on a much more streamlined monarchy," royal biographer Omid Scobie said on HeirPod. "Many reports have suggested that Charles will go for something similar to the Swedish Royal Family."

He added, "That will leave out the likes of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. They're not working royals so that need for a title is almost a bit unnecessary."

Royal experts believed that the streamlined monarchy would only include Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, their kids and their eventual spouses.

However, Princess Anne might still continue with her royal duties.
