Prince Harry Talks About Princess Diana During His Invictus Games Interview

While speaking with TODAY, Prince Harry revealed that he still feels Princess Diana’s presence to this day. In fact, the Princess of Wales’s presence in Prince Harry’s life became much stronger after he quit his royal duties and relocated to the United States.

“It's almost as though she's done her bit with my brother and now, she's very much helping me. She's got him set up and now she's helping me set up - that's what it feels like. He's got his kids, I've got my kids. The circumstances are obviously different but I feel her presence in almost everything that I do now. But definitely more so in the last two years than ever before, without a question. She's watching over us,” he said (via Daily Mail).

Prince Harry also revealed that his children know who their grandmother is. But he has not shared with the youngsters what happened to the Princess of Wales. Princess Diana passed away in 1997 following a tragic car crash in Paris. At the time, her car was being chased by the paparazzi because they wanted to take her photos.

The Duke of Sussex also shared that he has a couple of Princess Diana’s photos displayed in his home in Montecito.

Prince Harry Is Still Grieving The Death Of Princess Diana

Following the interview, royal author Ingrid Seward said that it’s possible that Prince Harry is still grieving the loss of Princess Diana.

“Because people do that - and I studied this a bit when I wrote about William and Harry – in order to keep the presence of the person that’s passed away, is to keep them alive by doing things that they did and wanting their approval. So, Harry does sound like he’s in a different sphere somehow,” she said.

Princess Diana passed away even before Prince Harry became a teenager. And as an adult, he revealed that he didn’t cope well with the sudden death of the Princess of Wales. Prince Harry later shared that he had been going to therapy after Prince William encouraged him to do so.

But while the therapy might have helped Prince Harry with the loss, it hasn’t done anything to save his relationship with Prince William. Royal experts claimed that Prince Harry is ready to heal his rift with his older brother, but it’s unclear if the Duke of Cambridge feels the same way about him.

Prince Harry Talks About Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William

Elsewhere in the interview, Prince Harry also had wonderful things to say about Queen Elizabeth.

“Her sense of humor and her ability to see the humor in so many different things. We have a really special relationship. We talk about things that she can't talk about with anybody else, so that is always a nice peace for her. But I think, after a certain age you get bored of birthdays,” he said.

There are also reports claiming that the queen invited Prince Harry to the queen’s Platinum Jubilee. However, the Duke of Sussex said that he’s still not sure whether he would attend the event in June.

“I don't know yet. There are lots of things with security issues and everything else. This is what I'm trying to do, trying to make it possible that I can get my kids to meet her,” he said.

When asked if he misses Prince Charles and Prince William, Prince Harry avoided the question.

“For me at the moment, I'm here focused on these guys [Invictus athletes] and these families and giving everything that I can, 120 percent to them to make sure they have the experience of a lifetime. That's my focus here. And when I leave here, I get back and my focus is on my family who I miss massively,” he said.
