Princess Anne is as dedicated as her mom, Queen Elizabeth II, to her royal duties. The Princess Royal just recently joined the veterans to mark the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war and she wore her naval uniform at the event.

Princess Anne Wears Naval Uniform To Commemorate Falklands War Anniversary

On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II's only daughter and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, joined the families of those who fought and died in the Falklands War to mark its 40th anniversary. The Falkland Islands Government organized the service of reflection and remembrance in St Faith's Chapel at St Paul's Cathedral, Daily Mail reported.

Two minutes of silence was held and Jonathan Clark, Bishop for the Falkland Islands, delivered a speech. He thanked "those who worked, served and died."

The royal couple laid wreaths at the South Atlantic Task Force Memorial inside the cathedral. Many guests were veterans and they wore their medals from their time of service.

Princess Anne arrived wearing her naval uniform complete with medals and her hat. She swept up her hair into a neat bun and accessorized with discreet pair of pearl earrings.

Princess Anne has held the appointment of Chief Commandant of the Women's Royal Naval Service since 1974. She looked somber during the commemorative event. She also took the time to speak with the families and veterans who attended the event.

Why Princess Anne And Not Prince William Attended The Event

One netizen wondered why it was Princess Anne who attended the Falklands War anniversary and not Prince William. The online user said the royal family should have deployed the Duke of Cambridge instead.

However, Gert's Royals, a royal blogger, argued noting that Princess Anne is a more fitting representative. Also, the Princess Royal has visited the island multiple times in the past years.

"No, Prince William doesn’t have a monopoly on Falkland-related events just because he was stationed there for 6 weeks back in 2011. Even Andrew, pre-scandal, wasn’t the only royal to attend Falkland War commemorations," the royal blogger replied.

"Princess Anne was the most recent royal to visit the Falkland Islands, making a visit there in 2016 & 2009, & 2007. She also attended commemorations for 30th & 25th Anniv & has a strong connection to the Navy," Gert's Royals added.
