Prince William's relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remains strained. And hopes of a reconciliation between the three were dashed following Queen Elizabeth's funeral. In fact, so many things have been said about the Prince of Wales's relationship with the Sussexes, and some only surfaced in recent weeks.
Prince William Tried To Help Meghan Markle Multiple Times, But She Rejected Him
In the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, author Valentine Low defended Prince William amid Meghan Markle's claims that no one helped her learn the royal ropes.
During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle said that no one offered to guide her on what royals could and could not do after she married Prince Harry. She also said that she learned the national anthem without anyone's help.
However, Low claimed that this is very far from the truth. After all, Prince William did not just offer to help and guide his sister-in-law. He also offered to send his private secretary to help Markle out. However, Prince Harry's wife was the one who refused.
"They tried really hard to help Meghan, right from the beginning. One of them called Miguel Head, who was William's private secretary, [and] had a meeting with Meghan. And in that meeting, he said, 'listen, you're coming to the royal family from a different place. You're an actress, you're a grown-up woman, we can do things differently. Let's talk about how we do this. You might want to carry on acting, you might want to work somehow in the industry. Let's have a dialogue.' And Meghan said no, 'I want to support my husband,' so on and so forth," Low said (via Cheat Sheet).

Prince William Invited Prince Harry And Meghan Markle For A Chat, But They Didn't Go
According to the author, ex-ambassador Sir David Manning also came up with the idea for Prince Harry and Markle to live in South Africa for a while, just like what the other royals did. However, Markle wasn't sold on his idea either.
Despite the rejections, Prince William reached out to Prince Harry and Markle after the latter told a reporter that not a lot of people have checked up on her. But the couple refused to meet up with Kate Middleton's husband for fear that their conversation would be leaked.
Prince William's Relationship With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Remains Strained
According to royal author Katie Nicholl, it reached a point wherein Prince William just stopped exerting efforts to help the Duke and Duchess of Sussex out. And to this day, his relationship with Prince Harry is no longer the same as it once was.
"This was sort of an unbreakable bond between the brothers. And there isn't that closeness anymore. A lot has happened. I think there's a lot of anger, hurt, and resentment on both sides. I think many people had hoped that the queen's death [in September] would be an opportunity for the brothers to come together, which of course they did," she said (via Fox News).
Even though Prince William reunited with the Sussexes during the queen's funeral, he did not exert any effort to talk to them or his brother while they were there.
"And my understanding was that even though there was a time when they could have seen each other during that period between the queen's death and the funeral, it didn't happen," Nicholl said.
However, royal fans are still hoping for a reconciliation between Prince William and the Sussexes someday.
