Prince William and Kate Middleton have always set a good example for the royal family and their supporters. Throughout the years, they have also lived up to Queen Elizabeth’s mantra, “never complain, never explain,” which somehow depicted them with a stiff upper lip. But following their tour of the Caribbean, Prince William and Middleton will reportedly adopt some changes to how they deal with the media.
Prince William Plans To Change Royal Protocols When He Ascends The Throne
While speaking with Express, Pauline Maclaran, a professor of Marketing and Consumer Research at Royal Holloway, said that in the coming months, Prince William and Middleton will veer away from the queen’s mantra. The royal couple will become more open when it comes to responding to controversies and when dealing with the media.
“Prince William and Catherine are very aware that they are the future of the monarchy. I think he recognizes that there is a need to change because it's such a public relations game these days. So much more so than when the Queen took over. Now it is all down to how you brand yourself, what’s picked up by the media and what isn’t, and you need to be very aware of it. Also, the public does expect to see the sort of human touch behind the facade. I think we demand more and more explanation. But William does seem willing to give more of himself in that respect and I think it’s the right move,” Maclaran said.

Prince William Will Respond To Criticisms, Controversies More Frequently
According to Cheat Sheet, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s recent royal tour already showed the change that they want to adapt the most. After all, they responded to some controversies while speaking to the press. And Prince William also released a statement following all the controversies that he and his wife received.
However, it is worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Prince William and Middleton broke the “never complain, never explain” rule. In 2012, the second in line to the throne released a statement to the press urging them to treat his wife with respect. At the time, topless photos of Middleton were published on the front page of a tabloid.
Two years ago, Tatler published a story about Middleton. And even though Prince William did not release a public statement after reading the article, his lawyers reportedly contacted the people behind the article and its publication. Tatler later took down the article that had comments about Middleton’s weight and her family.
According to Express, Prince William has been doing a lot of thinking lately when it comes to the changes that he could adapt when he ascends the throne. Even though this wouldn’t happen in at least a couple of more years, he is already taking matters into his own hands.
