Prince William and Camilla Parker Bowles are reportedly close. Even though the latter serves as a stepmom to the former and his younger brother, Prince Harry, they have developed a special bond after all these years. In fact, the brothers previously defended Camilla amid claims that she’s a wicked stepmom.
Earlier this month, Queen Elizabeth expressed her desire for Camilla to be styled as queen consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne. Prince William had nothing to do with the queen’s request, but there are rumors claiming that he’s more involved than what the public may think.

Prince William Approved Camilla’s Royal Title Change Years Ago
New Idea, in its Feb. 21 issue, claimed that Prince William was the one that approved Camilla’s future royal title. And this allegedly happened as far back as 2016 to 2017 after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle started dating or shortly after they got engaged.
An unnamed source claimed that Prince William was already having negative feelings about Markle at the time so he decided to focus his attention on the future of the monarchy instead.
Prince Harry Furious At Prince William For Approving Camilla’s Royal Title Change
However, Prince Harry wasn’t allegedly on board with Prince William’s decision. In fact, he doesn’t allegedly want Camilla to be styled as queen consort.
“As the future king, William had to consider what was best for the monarchy and what was best for his father. Harry, on the other hand, had always led with his heart. Harry felt Queen Camilla was a direct insult to his mother’s memory,” the unnamed source said.
The unnamed source added that Prince Harry has yet to publicly comment on Camilla’s future royal title, which speaks volumes about his true feelings about his stepmom.
But Prince Harry wouldn’t have any other choice but to accept the decision because Prince Charles already phoned him to inform him of the news.
Camilla’s Future Royal Title Affecting Prince William, Prince Harry’s Relationship
Royal expert Phil Dampier also spoke with the publication about how Camilla’s future royal title would affect Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship.
“Increasingly, the queen, Charles, and William are all singing from the same song sheet and talking about the next moves for the monarchy. William is happy with the decision. He wants his father to be a happy king, which will make life easier for him and Kate. We can assume Harry’s not happy about it. The rumor is that much of his book coming out later in the year will be about his mother, so it’s quite possible he will be critical of Camilla for breaking up his parents’ marriage. It's another example of how the family rift is as bad as ever and not likely to improve soon,” Dampier said.
However, there’s no indication that Prince Harry is upset with the queen’s wish to give Camilla the title of queen consort. And there’s also no proof that Prince William approved Camilla’s royal title as far back as 2016.

Prince Charles, Prince William Supports Queen Elizabeth’s Wish
In 2005, a spokesperson for the Clarence House said that Camilla will most likely be styled as princess consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne. This is primarily the royal family’s way of showing Princess Diana some respect even after she passed away.
Last year, reps for Prince Charles and Camilla reiterated the plans to style Camilla as princess consort when the time comes.
“The intention is for the duchess to be known as princess consort when the prince accedes to the throne. This was announced at the time of the marriage and there has been absolutely no change at all,” they said.
This proves that Prince William didn’t approve of Camilla’s royal title change. After all, the royal family also thought that Camilla will be styled as a princess consort up until last year.
While speaking with Town & Country, royal expert Marlene Koenig also explained why Camilla suddenly had a title change with the queen’s blessing.
“Camilla was not popular or well-liked, [although] this has changed a lot since the marriage as Camilla has taken on a lot of patronages and Charles is a lot happier. Still, [there was] a lot of tension and anger among a certain element of the population—so it was decided that Camilla would be styled as the Duchess of Cornwall, even though, of course, she is the Princess of Wales,” she said.
