Is There An Element Of Envy Between Prince William And Prince Harry?
Prince William and Prince Harry were very close growing up, but they were treated very differently because one of them is the future king of the monarchy. The Duke of Cambridge had always known his fate as the "heir to the throne," while the Duke of Sussex had to make his own path after being dubbed the "spare" before Prince William started his own family.
However, according to British journalist Bidisha, it's the heir Prince William, who envies the spare, Prince Harry. She pointed out how the Duke of Cambridge was following his younger brother's example when it came to connecting with the people.
"I suspect William has a bit of sneaking, envy and admiration for his brother Harry. He probably envies Harry's 21st-century quality, his emotional intelligence, his easygoingness," Bidisha claimed in a documentary William & Harry: Princes at War released in July last year, Express reported.
"You see their YouTube channel has got their family life, they're saying to people – 'We're a mum and a dad just like you. We go through the same emotional journeys that you do'."
Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl explained that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are "tapping into the millennial generation" who will be serving when they take over the throne.
Meanwhile, royal biographer Tina Brown said it was Prince Harry who was always jealous of his brother. The Palace Papers author claimed that Meghan Markle's husband vented about his brother Prince William or would pour his resentments about his father, Prince Charles, with his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
"Harry was a very, very angry man," Brown quoted a friend of the siblings, Geo.TV reported. "I think those were absolutely Olympic rows."
Prince Harry Joked Brother Prince William Was Jealous Of Him
An old video that resurfaced on TikTok featured Prince Harry joking that his sibling was jealous of him. The Duke of Sussex kept his humor as he spoke about his brother when he was serving in Afghanistan.
"There is a bit of jealousy, not just the fact that I get to fly this [an Apache helicopter] but he'd love to be around here, I don't see why," Prince Harry said, referring to his older brother, Daily Star reported.
"To be honest, I don't see why he couldn't. His job out here would be flying the IRT [Immediate Response Team], or whatever, doing Chinook missions.
In the same interview, Prince Harry, who served in the army for 10 years, argued that there was no reason why the royal family should not be in the firing line.
"Yes, you get shot at," he said. "But if the guys who are doing the same job as us are being shot at on the ground, I don't think there's anything wrong with us being shot at as well. People back home will have issues with that, but we're not special. The guys out there are. Simple as that."
Several netizens said they noticed a huge change in Prince Harry. However, they are still thankful for his service to his nation.
"Like or dislike him...he fought for the country," one commented. Another added: "At least he earned the medals he wears and not just given ceremonially."
