Earlier this year, The Sun claimed that Middleton is also in on Prince William's plans to modernize the monarchy. And one of the things that are doing is hiring only half of the staffers that used to work for King Charles.
In his book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, royal author Valentine Low claimed that Prince William wants to keep it casual. That's why he doesn't require his staffers to wear suits while in the workplace.
"The kids run around the office, and he does not want it to be stuffy. If we have important meetings or are going to Buckingham Palace, then, of course, we [wear suits]. It started with casual Fridays, but then William told them that if they did not have important people coming in for meetings, they could dress casually," he said (via Yahoo! News).
According to reports, Prince William also wants to ditch the queen's rule of "never complain and never explain."
Other than Prince William, there are also claims that King Charles wants a slimmed-down monarchy. According to Business Insider, the monarch wants to reduce the number of senior working royals to just seven.
