Royal author Robert Hardman, in his book called Queen Of Our Times: The Life Of Elizabeth II, claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 affected Prince William. He wrote:
“For Prince William, there was the added anguish of seeing the younger brother whom he had protected (and who had idolized him) now throwing incendiary and, in some cases, unanswerable charges into the public domain, fully aware of their likely impact.”
Robert Hardman furthered:
“‘William,’ says one friend, ‘was as low as I’d ever seen him.’ Since the Oprah interview, the brothers have only met twice — at Prince Philip’s funeral and at the unveiling of the statue of their mother at Kensington Palace.”
Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told Entertainment Tonight that the Sussex pair’s tell-all interview “devastated” Prince William. She said:
“William is devastated by this interview. Don’t forget that the Duchess of Cambridge is being dragged into this whole saga and William will hate that.”

At the time, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also candidly talked about their fallout with the royal family. The sister-in-law of Prince William specially addressed a story to which the tabloids claimed that she made Kate Middleton cry.
Meghan Markle claimed she ended up in terms after a disagreement with Prince William’s better half over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. The wife of Prince Harry revealed that Kate Middleton apologized, adding:
“That was a turning point. The narrative with Kate, it didn’t happen. A few days before the wedding she was upset about flower girl dresses and it made me cry. It really hurt my feelings.”
The Duchess of Sussex added:
“It was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it.”
Katie Nicholl stated Prince William would not be happy that Kate Middleton was discussed at all during the sit-down interview. The royal expert explained:
“I think that the idea that Kate’s being dragged into this will be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry. She has been deeply saddened by the brothers’ falling out. Don’t forget she was incredibly close to Harry herself.”

Meghan Markle, for her part, claimed she only shared her side of the story to highlight how the Firm reportedly did not protect her and correct the narrative. Prince Harry’s ladylove said:
“I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth,” she said. “She’s a good person. And I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity, where if you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards told Express UK:
"It must be upsetting to the Queen to see that in her family, that two boys that grew up together, they played soldiers together, they had their treehouse at Highgrove together and learned to fly together. They flew helicopters together and now they're not even talking to each other. I don't know what he's got to do to make it right. But it's got to come from him and it's got to come from him in a big way. And from Meghan. I think it's possible you can change any situation if you really both want to. While this feud is going on with his brother where they barely talk to each other, it's not nice."
Reports about the potential reunion of Prince William and Prince Harry this year have been making rounds online for quite some time already. It was suggested that the sons of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana would have a chance to fix their strained relationship in June when most of the events for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee would take place.
Prince Harry is said to be returning to the U.K. to grace the revelries for Her Majesty’s latest milestone as a monarch. There are even claims that the husband of Meghan Markle and Prince William would be required to appear together in one of the major events this summer.
