King Charles III Will Be Giving Prince William Thousands In Yearly Rent

According to Daily Mail, King Charles III will also be giving Prince William over $796,000 yearly as rent to pay for the Duchy of Cornwall. After all, the monarch signed a long lease on the property starting in 1980.

As the new Prince of Wales, Prince William now serves as a landlord for King Charles III because he now controls the property which houses the Gloucestershire estate.

“The King has a long lease and pays rent on Highgrove House and surrounding land,” a source said.

Prince William Serves As The New Caretaker Of The Duchy Of Cornwall

Since the Duchy of Cornwall holds 23 counties, farms, housing developments, seven castles, woodlands, coastlines, and commercial property, this means that Prince William will be overseeing the biggest private land in the UK.

Prince William Will Be A More Relaxed, Friendlier Monarch Than King Charles III

Other than his role as the new caretaker of the Duchy of Cornwall, Prince William was also given a new title following the death of his grandmother. He is now styled as the Prince of Wales, and his wife, Kate Middleton, is styled as the Princess of Wales.

As the heir to the throne, some royal correspondents recently predicted what kind of monarch Prince William would be one day.

Nicholas Owen, a former ITN royal correspondent, predicted that Prince William would be a more relaxed king. And he will also connect better with the younger generation because he’s much younger than King Charles III.

“There have been quite a lot of question marks over the way Charles’ charities operate and where the money comes from. I think William is less likely to go along easily with people saying, ‘Oh, everything’s all right, sir, no, leave it with me, that will be fine.’ I think he’s more likely to ask questions about people. ‘Why are we offering them an honor? What have they given us?’ I think that will be his style,” he told The Guardian.

Charles Rae, a former royal correspondent for The Sun, believes that Prince William will be friendlier than the future monarchs that came before him.

“There’s going to be a lot more friendly handshakes and possibly hugs, rather than the formality that we’ve seen in the past. He didn’t hug everyone – he hugged the first two or three, who he knew quite well, and missed some others. But the girls at the back saw this and they grabbed him and put their arms around him. And he was just full of smiles,” he said.
